Skiing in Andorra? Hotel Naudí has the perfect location and is full of character!

by Daniela

When I am choosing a hotel, there are two important criteria that I don’t compromise on: character and location. The Naudí Hotel lived up to both to such an extent that we stayed there two times during our ski holidays in Andorra.

This post has been last updated on 04 October 2018.

At this moment Hotel Naudí is not taking reservations. Should this change, I will update the information in this post.

Location

Hotel Naudí is located in Soldeu, a small resort town in the Grandvalira ski area in Andorra. Grandvalira is the bigger of the two ski areas in Andorra with more than 200 km of snow runs. The best part about the hotel is that the gondola lift that goes to the slopes is only 150 m from the hotel. I can’t imagine dragging my skies more than that. So, location was crucial when we chose this hotel. Besides, the hotel has a special storage for your ski equipment, so you don’t need to worry about that. In case you are not comfortable carrying your ski equipment, you can also rent a locker at the gondola lift facilities.

Character

Hotel Naudí is full of character. It’s a family run hotel in a traditional stone building. The rooms are just normal size – there’s enough space for all your luggage. I would recommend having a room with a view towards the ski slopes. If you stay at the road side, you’ll miss the view and it can be a bit noisy. The rooms at the mountain side have also small balconies. If you are lucky, you can sit and watch live, right from your window, the finals of the FIS Alpine Ski European Cup. Well, you won’t know who is crossing the finish line, neither the time, but it might be a good idea to combine it with some live TV coverage on the background. In 2018 the finals will be held between 12-18 March.

My favourite place in the hotel was the big sunny lounge with comfy sofas and armchairs. We could hang around there and read a book or play a game. If you visit the hotel in the summer, you can enjoy the big sunny terrace overlooking the green ski slopes.

Food

We booked Hotel Naudí with the half-board option, where the breakfast and the dinner were included in the price. Both are in the form of a buffet. However, for dinner, they are also serving a la carte, if you don’t like anything from the buffet, which I hardly doubt. The buffet food was varied and there was enough choice from cold and warm dishes and salads. Besides, you will be able to try some traditional mountain specialties. With buffet food, there’s always the risk that food might be gone before you make it to the buffet itslef, but at Naudí, this was never the case. There was enough for all the guests.

Why choose Andorra for your ski holidays?

I must admit that Andorra is my favourite ski destination. As it is located in the South of Europe, there is always sunshine and blue sky. Andorra has great ski facilities and snow guarantee throughout the ski season. But the most important reason for me to choose Andorra is that it is not overcrowded and everything is on a small and moderate scale. Are you not yet convinced, read here why Andorra is the next big thing in skiing.

II knew Andorra was a mountain country but somehow it had never occurred to me that it was a ski destination! It looks so pretty with all the snow.

Although Andorra in Southern Europe, they have the perfect ski conditions in the winter. Ski tourism is actually their biggest industry.
